Should David Beckham be called up for the England squad?

other than the fact he's 38 is there any reason for him not to be representing his country?

Why can't he be our Pirlo? sitting infront of the defence simply to collect the ball and pass it off... there is no player (bar gerrard, who should play further forward) in the England squad capable of that so why not Beckham? he's more passionate about playing for England than the whole current England squad.

So again i ask, other than his age... what reasons are there against him being recalled?

yes he should be called back imo. And i totally agree with you.

Reasons:he is a better passer and crossers of the ball and is a natural leader. He can inspire Englands young guns.

Passion itself should not be the only criteria when playing for England.

    You also need football talent.

A player who sits in front of the defence but can't defend? That is ridiculous.

And since when has there been a role for a player who can only pass the ball?

Good passing ability should not be a unique skill reserved for one player, but a mandatory requirement for every player selected on the starting 11. With that philosophy England might actually win something. You think Spain could play their crap tiki-taka if only one player knew how to pass? Goodness me.

    FFS not this

Yes there is every reason, when he played England resorted to this deep crossing from the channel style of football, it was slow cumbersome and sorry to sound rude, but how Liverpool had been playing under KD.

That is not how international football should be played in the 21st century, and the most un effective way to play as it is easy to defend. By using Walcott, Ox Cham, Lennon, Young or any player that has a degree of pace you have more attacking options.

He is still a fine player, he would be great as a clutch sub, and as a practice guru.

Besides he is trying his hardest to stay in the picture in order to get the few more caps needed to tie Shiltons record (125).

If he is good enough (even for the bench) at PSG.. he is good enough for his NT.

Yeah ! I completely agree with you. He is one of the greatest English footballer of all time. Very strong in crosses, long shots, passes and free kicks. And he also has the quality of leadership and a lot of experience. No matter how old is he, he can play very well.
