Why are Chicago politicians so corrupt?
"Just last week, Chicago was named the most corrupt city in America according to a study by the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Illinois' Institute of Government and Public Affairs.
The report cites federal data showing that, between 1976 and 2010, there were 1,531 convictions for public corruption in "the federal district dominated by Chicago," according to the Associated Press."

The city of Chicago is utterly corrupt, and has been corrupt since the 1880s.
Major reasons:
1. Existing politicians have set up a political machine that ensures their re-election regardless of party. The guys who get elected agree to not squeal on one another. They just ensure that they are re-elected each time and agree that they can't steal so much money that the public would really get angry.
2. The public just does not care about the corruption. Since the 1950s, the city has been a one-party organization, and there have been few compelling Republican or independent candidates who have captured the voters' imagination.
3. The machine keeps its guys in power by hiring people for city jobs who support them. Most city workers are political operatives. They choose "yes man" judges who cast a blind eye towards the graft and go soft on the good old boys who are found guilty of graft.
4. The city does offer good basic services (although the schools stink) so the average guy has nothing to complain about. The city is clean, streets are maintained, services are rendered - although the payroll is bloated with loafers.
The politicians no longer engage in voter fraud; and they haven't done so in 50 years. They don't need to because the residents of the city just don't care about the way the city is run, so the crooks win fair and square.
PS: There are lots of corrupt Republicans, and several bleeding heart liberals were eventually convicted of taking payoffs, too. And, don't get me started up on Cook County and the State of Illinois.

I relatively have heard the Chicago politicians talked approximately as "Chicago Mafia". it somewhat is slightly frightening. I relatively have presently heard them talked approximately because of the fact the "Chicago Thugs". The crime fee in Chicago is for the time of the roof, so I ask you... WHY did maximum individuals of this usa opt for a guy it somewhat is a Senator from Illinois??
