Why is it that people will chat to to strangers on the bus, in a plane , on the train ,but not in the Tube?

Just saw a piece about The Tube on BBC and they are right. No one talks to anyone they don't know on the platform or on the Tube itself...

Why do you all think that is?

I do, and people even answer me!

It's a London thing. Everywhere outside London people chat to strangers everywhere; in the street, in supermarket queues, trains, buses, underground trains, cinemas, restaurants etc. In London people think you're nuts if you try to talk to them. Doesn't stop me though.

I would be happy if someone spoke to me any time.

If you see me on the tube, going round, with my Freedom Pass, you can say hi. I normally wear a blue shirt with a jumper with black trousers and a bag or some school papers.

I am a lot on the Northern and Victoria lines (N) but depends on my mood. I have a iPhone four.

The tube is my hobby and I use it to go to school which takes longer than walking or the bus for only 1 stop from x to x at approx 08:30 hrs in the morning and 17:30 hrs after school.

Never had a Rush Hour Crush in the Metro! I go round London, UK every Monday evening.

I have seen strangers talk on the tube but not often, but planes, I have. Good point.

    = Gadgets and being underground.

My coat is grey and a little white and I normally wear my hood

People are too busy to being up general conversation on the tube. And with all these new gadgets people aren't really in the mood for talking when they can play Doodle Jump or whatnot.

The tube reminds them of a penis. They don't want anything to do with it.
