Once you're 18, she won't have a say; that's for sure, unless she threatens to kick you out of the house. Driving is a huge responsibility and is even deadly because we put our trust on the road and even around others driving everyday. She may feel like

    - because you're a woman you might be taken advantaged of such as being followed, being pulled over by an unreasonable cop, or drivers mistreating you by underestimating your driving and cutting in front of you.

    - maybe she feels like you're not ready

    - Maybe she feels like you will abuse your privileges by texting, mistreating the car, or being too distracted by friends with you to where you're not clearly observant. (Accidents do happen when friends in the car that distract the driver)

    - Maybe it's gas money. Gas IS very expensive

    - Car insurance DOES increase when teenagers drive.

    - An of course accidents.

Don't get angry about this. Yes, you can get frustrated, but cool down a bit. Life has tougher worries to worry about. You will get to drive one day.

Maybe it's because she's scared you might get into an accident or something. Most moms are these days. Your dad has confidence in you and let you go by yourself. That's just how mom's are, i guess. Mine won't even teach me how to drive and scared to get in the car with me as I learn. So........maybe it's a mom thing

dont take it wrong. She is just protecting you from harm. She loves you and that would be why so. talk to her and tell her that you feel comfortable driving. The more assurance you give her more it will make her think of letting you drive. Tell her that you will be very very cautious and will do your best and drive responsibly which you should be. do not think that she has any hidden agenda.

you have to show her that you're responsible enough to drive alone. That includes:

    - getting good grades

    - do your chores

    - don't do anything stupid like going to a party without permission

    - don't get drunk

    - DON'T drink if you're not allowed

    - DON'T do things that you're not allowed

    - be nice with them

    - every time you drive with her, show her that you can do it alone without no one telling you what to do

Source(s): I'm 13 and I drive with my dad because he teaches me. I only drove with my mom a couple of times. I asked my dad that when i turn 16 and get my license, will he buy me car or at least lend me his car to drive alone when I want...AAAAAND he said: NO to both of them.
