FRAUD! Debit card being charged?

How is it possible for someone to use my card when I have had it with me all day. I got two transactions to a Target located in NY. I DON'T LIVE IN NEWYORK! I never even been there. Without the psychical card in the thief's hands, how can they use it? What is going on?

Seriously? You have never ordered take out or made an online purchase????? There are a plethora of ways to use a card without physically taking it to a store and swiping it. The numbers are what you need, not the card. The card itself is nothing more than data loaded onto a magnetic strip taped to a piece of plastic - its the equivalent of carrying a flash drive with one file and using it in multiple places. You dont need that flash drive to use the file, just the file.

But most likely what happened is your number got stolen somewhere, could have been anywhere (site or store or company you do business with got hacked, or someone pulled it off video footage or an old receipt, stole your mail, you got phished, etc), and was then loaded on to a fake card, so for all intents and purposes, the card WAS used in person, it was just a fraudulent card.

as long as they have the info on the card, its as good as if they had the real card in hand do its very easy once one knows exactly what theyre doing and ID Thieves know exactly what theyre doing so contact Bank and stop all transactions on thiss card Immediately and explain what youre seeing
