Metallic Squeal on hard turns in one direction, Mazda 323?
On a 94 Mazda 323, if you turn hard (fully) right and drive forwards slowly there is a metal on metal type squeal from the front left wheel - almost as you would hear running your finger around a wine glass. This is the only way the sound is made. Not in reverse, not at speed, not in a left turn, not if stationary. This is occasionally a slight 'rattle' when turning a slight right at a more considerable speed but again probably only 10mph or so - bearings???
Any ideas?
Its a 1994 model with crappy looking wheel covers. I'm guessing (before I walk outside and have a look) that it doesn't have brake dust covers - I assume they are primarily for appearance purposes?
Went to have a look at my partners car and realised there is no jack or tools to remove the wheel - a spare but no tools! Wasn't going to get underneath just remove wheel and inspect!
Anyway off to the garage now due to lack of tools, will let you know what it was - took a photo and uploaded it here:

Any idea from this angle what that is - doesn't look good...

get the car on jacks & pull the wheels it could anything from worn out brake pad to anything that is on the verge of causing you to lose control of car & getting into an accident. tie rod ends , ball joints, broken tab. maybe its only a cv axel or bearing but you need to attend to the matter.

Mazda did no longer make a 323 in the 2003 form line....they replaced it with the Mazda Protege. in case you're evaluating the Mazda Protege to the Lancer...save in mind that the Lancer line is often used for countless electric issues. i think of the coverage and risk-free practices scores additionally are extra perfect on the Mazda. i've got owned many Mazdas that I stored as much as a hundred and sixty,000 miles of no longer undemanding use...they are large, low-value stable automobiles.

Could be the steel strap that holds the rubber boot on the outer CVJ is rubbing on something. I've seen worn CVJ's that rubbed against a part of the lower control arm and snap this strap off of the boot. Can be from the upper or lower CVJ wear allowing the shaft to move too much or the lower BJ is really worn and allows too much play of the lower control arm.
Good Luck!

First, check the see if the brake dust shield has any fresh rub marks on it. If so, it's bent. Just pull it out. Then check the wheel bearing for play. If there's ANY wobble, replace the bearing.
