Let me really simply things here...
When you buy the Wii, you can do the following with it...
* Play Wii Retail games (Game Disc required)
* Play WiiWare titles (Internet & Wii Points required to purchase & download)
* Play Wii Virtual Console titles (Internet & Wii Points required to purchase & download)
* Run Wii Channel software (Internet required to download & run)
If you have an original Wii (Model # RVL-001)...
* Play Gamecube games (Game Disc, GCN controller & GCN Memory card required)
You can ONE of the above mentioned things at any given time. If you want to change games, you go back to the Wii Menu do to so.
In your example, you can New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Retail) by inserting the disc into your Wii, go to the Disc channel & start it up. When you're done, you can go back to the Wii Menu (by hitting Home & then hit the "Wii Menu" button) if you want to play something else OR turn the Wii off if you're done.
If you wanted to play another Wii retail title, like Mario Kart Wii, you'd have to eject the New Super Mario Bros. Wii disc first prior to inserting the new disc... which is just common sense, but since you're a newbie here, I'm a bit obligated to state the obvious.
In the case of digital titles (WiiWare, Virtual console, other Wii channels), there's nothing physical you have to insert or remove (with the possible exception of an SD/HC card, if you have stuff stored on it) as it'll be shown on the Wii Menu OR the SD Card Menu.
Please be aware that there's no user accounts on the Wii. There's only one account for the entire system, although the various games will provide multiple save slots... which could be consider "accounts" in terms of online activity, but that's as far as the Wii goes.
Hope this clear things up!

confident if your a great fan (which curiously such as you're) they are truthfully nicely worth playing. it basically costs around $2 hundred AU for a wii console at present so which you will desire to probable get a first rate good deal from a video games shop for a 2d hand console and the two video games. yet there are quite a few extra titles on wii nicely worth playing like zelda and mario kart, you will truthfully have a outstanding type of exciting playing it. i enjoyed mine till i've got been given rid of it simply by loss of pastime/time.

If you buy a wii, you'll be able to play any software designed for the wii. Newer wii consoles won't play gamecube games though, and of course it won't play wii u games, which is the new console from Nintendo.
