Why is posting an actual website in response to a request for an actual website considered a violation of TOS?
I recently had a response removed because my answer listed an actual website. When I requested clarification, all I got was a formal link to Yahoo's TOS which no where that I can find says that such an answer is an actual violation. No one seems to be able to show me the actual wording or provide a clear answer, which is annoying. It's like asking a teacher in class for a simple answer and having them say, "Go look it up in the textbook." Duh. If I could find it in the textbook, I wouldn't have to ask you about it, would I? Anybody?.... Anybody?...

A lot would depend on the link. The first consideration would be spam, which is a TOS violation. As is phishing or fraud. Add to that the "personal website promotion" (solicitation) that is often a basis for violation and you can see that there are many possibilities. Finally, if ALL you post is the link, most people will consider that not an answer, without some additional information.

It can be considered fraud or phishing. (What if someone sends you a link to a hacker's site instead of a real answer? Who wants to check the site in case it is a hacker site?)
Truth be known, it's a gray area, but most people hate homework cheat questions so either ignore them or report them.
