There are no signs of deficiency because we (humans) don't have batrachotoxin normally present. Thus, there can be no deficiency.
Symptoms/signs of toxicity would be respiratory failure, heart failure, and convulsions. This is a result of the constant depolarization of nerve cells, because this toxin binds to Na+ channels in the membrane and keeps them open. When sodium rushes into the neuron, it depolarizes it, causing transmitter release. It also acts on the heart in a similar manner.
