Book titles for a generalized overview of texas and federal law?
I'm new to this country. I am not a law student, but I am in need of an overview of the laws of mainly Texas, but also different categories of federal law. Does anyone know of any suitable titles? ... titles that perhaps list the most important laws of this state, or federal laws?

Sure don't. But Texas law is very easily understandable. In the Texas Penal Code it is broken down by chapters which is certain types of crimes, ie. 19 Criminal Homicide, 20 Kidnapping etc....
I am assuming that you want the Penal Code not the Education Code or Election Code.
I suggest to look at the Texas legislature site and pick a type of crime that interests you. Remember that definition matter. Like causation, culpable mental states, ......
