How old were you when you decided what you wanted to do with your life?
Like, career-wise and everything. I'm 14 and I'm getting worried because I have no idea what I want to do for a career so when I chose my GCSE choices, I just tried to keep my options open. But high school is going scarily quickly and things aren't so simple anymore as when I was little and told people that I would be a hairdresser on Monday, an artist on Tuesday, a scientist on Wednesday, a famous ballet dancer on Thursday, an explorer on Friday, a vet on Saturday etc!! Soon, I'm going to have to choose what I want to study at A-Level and Uni (The only thing I've decided on is that I do want to go to Uni, but I might like to take a gap year and go work in an orphanage in Africa or something!!) All my friends think they know what they want to do. My one friend is an aspiring lawyer, my other friend is hoping to study music at Oxford... I have NO IDEA!! :S
But seriously, how old were you when you decided what you wanted with your life?
How old were you when you knew what kind of subjects or area of work you wanted your career to be in, and how old were you when you knew exactly that you were destined to be a primary school teacher or whatever!
Did you have a clue at 14?

I always knew right from being a small child, so at 14 I was definitely certain of what I wanted to do, and that was being an estate agent. I got there but I found that I didn't like it very much.
So, in summary, you may know what you want to do, but you may not like it, or, you may change your mind. You will work it out for yourself one day, or, just like with me, you will find something else you enjoy instead of your original plan.

At 14 I didn't have a clue I was a kid that chilled out at school took each day as it came wasn't too fussed about doing work or anything. It was only when I turned 16 that I realised if I didn't get good GCSEs I would be doing nothing in life. I worked my as* off and got all 13 A-C GCSEs at this point I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. I looked at the subjects I was good at and liked and took it from there. At A-level I chose my favourite subject Business, along with Sociology, Psychology and Statistics. I absolutely hated Statistics and Psychology wasn't my favourite either, the other two I absolutely loved. It was only when I was in Year 12 that I decided what I wanted to do which I am now doing a Business Management Degree at Uni in my first year.
So yeah don't really worry too much, but I guess if you wana become something like a doctor or a medical profession your gona need good sciences, I wanted to be a doctor but I was crap at science and I did a BTEC and so by then it was too late for me to turn back and change, I guess I had chilled out too much at first and by the time I was serious it was too late to go into a medical profession, but hey now Im doing what I enjoy and hopefully Ill get rewards from it in the near future.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do :)
and by the way Ive been through it all so if you need to talk you can email me on my Yahoo email feel free :)

At 14 I had many things I thought I wanted to do.
I figured it out by the end of high school. Many of my friends had no idea even while in college and switched majors a few times (not recommended, but it is possible).
I am still doing what I decided to do way back then 30 years ago, but many of my friends and family have switched careers a few times since then.

At 16 i had the idea of accountancy but it was really at college where i went i like this, i want o do this. GCSE's don't really have much influence so what ever you do doesnt decide your future subjects, college is where the main decision has to be made and then uni is when you pursue it, if uni is the right course. I decided not to go uni but am doing an accounting apprenticeship

I merely did a number of months in the past and that i'm turning 30. I graduated 8 yrs in the past and had many roles in the course of those years. This time i love the pastime yet regrettably the coworkers are confusing to attend to. a number of months in the past i began my living house corporation and could keep my pastime until eventually a minimum of end of this month. i love what i'm doing and it is going to pay me more beneficial than month-to-month income ever does. I desire I knew previously that having a career gained't provide me as a lot freedom and pride a corporation can. solid success, i desire you locate your course sometime
