I can't sleep with another person?

When I was young, my brother was a smack-head. I used to wake up in my room to people burglarizing it. Sometimes there would be an accomplice standing over me, making sure if I woke up, they could get out of there before I could stop anything. I fought him off with a knife and I cut that bastard I know I did. 15 years later my wife says she "can't sleep unless I am in the same bed" and I can't do it unless I get hammered. I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP WITH ANOTHER PERSON! I NEED to sleep against a wall with a knife ready for use. How can I covey that?

Update:

Edit: I will NEVER see a the-rapist! My parents tried to send me to one while this was happening and that ***** tried to tell me that the break-ins were all in my head and had my parents pulling the wool over their eyes, for the sake of that ***** therapist profit. Not until I hid a video camera to record the TRUTH was my story believed. Therapists are a SCAM!

Update 2:

Also I don't actually have a knife w/ me when I sleep (I have it under the mattress... nobody is breaking in any time soon) I keep a stuffed animal in my hand to I can hold something. If my hand is empty I just can't sleep either. Bu the main problem is 2 fold 1) not being against a wall. 2) other movement wakes me up instantly.

I think that sleeping in the same bed as your wife and waking up to her smile in the morning is a beautiful thing, and instead of accepting this you should get therapy and try to overcome the fear.

I think you have post-traumatic stress disorder, See a therapist and talk it out. You need to feel better for you and your family. Good luck.

p.s. anyone who went through what you did, would have PTSD.
