Why is Yahoo answers suddenly showing a popup asking if I want to post my answer to Facebook?

Obviously some bright spark thought it'd be a good idea to force us to mix Y!A with social media, as no one would do it voluntarily.

Let's hope someone with a brain cell realises their mistake and corrects it because it is damn annoying.

Just above the "Submit" and "Preview" buttons" is a line,

"Also share this as an update to" and the Facebook icon.

It is checked. Uncheck it.

With Mozilla Firefox running under Windows 7, (and probably many more OS/Browser combinations) you have to uncheck it EVERY time you post a question or answer. (Not when you vote for a BA, though.) With other operating systems and browsers, it stays unchecked for a session, or at least some other users - Kitty in the Sink, for instance - have reported it staying unchecked.

Facebook is apparently the new default setting in life.

Yahoo doesn't bug me so much as newspapers like the L.A. Times, who are supposed to serve the community, but only allow comments to their blog to Facebook users.

But it doesn't surprise me in the least that Yahoo is joining this stupid bandwagon.

Facebook is easily the worst thing to ever happen to the internet.

For pete’s sake! Why are people making such a stink about this? For answers and questions, all anyone has to do is unclick the little box that says "Also share this as an update to” right above the Submit/Preview buttons. And you only have to do that one time!

People just need to read, and relax. Y!A is just giving people the option!It’s always been there. Today there’s just a glitch that keeps checking it.

I'm getting that too and it is VERY annoying. I have never used Facebook, nor do I want to, nor have I checked any box that indicates I do.

When you answer a question there is a box that says share as a update to facebook. uncheck it and it wont do it
