can a desk clerk give out personal info?
a guest at a hotel that i was staying at complained to the desk clerk about my dog the clerk gave her all my personal info i thought there was a hippa law

they can give out any info which they have knowledge of or they have observed, hippa law? not for a desk clerk. Get smart, don't give out any personal info you don't want others to obtain.

hipaa laws are about medical information and is for persons with access to that data. don't know why a dog complainer would even want your personal information. i would certainly bring the situation to the attention of the owner/manager as i suspect it is a breach of policy, but what is it that you want now after the fact? did you have permission to have the dog there? you could have been turned out without refund if you did not have permission for the dog. you could have had the police come and been presented with a citation for disturbing the peace. you can't get the information back so what is your desire now? have they done anything with the information?

A desk clerk cannot give out personal information without consent that she is allowed to.

She can't give out your personal info unless you signed something that said she can.
