R&P: What is a group that you used to despise but now thoroughly enjoy?

Question

As an avid progressive rock collector, I was recommended Porcupine Tree on numerous occasions. Nobody could ever sway me to enjoy their work, however. I was simply against the idea of liking Porcupine Tree, despite their position as "one of the greatest progressive rock bands of all time". I believe it was the melancholy of their songs.
And then one day my good friend Soshanna introduced me to a song I had not yet heard before by Porcupine Tree - I believe it was 'Wedding Nails' - and I loved it; as a result, I began looking through more and more material by them. Eventually I found that I enjoy A LOT of their live material (almost all of it) and a good chunk of studio albums. I now consider Porcupine Tree one of my favorite modern progressive rock bands (wouldn't call them 'favorite prog rock bands of all time' quite yet, but maybe they'll get there someday1).

So, R&P, what is a group that you used to despise but now thoroughly enjoy?

I never got Porcupine Tree, but I'm sure I need to hear more

I didn't know that Genesis was a Prog Rock band until I started coming here. I didn't despise them but I thought they were too popish..but then I discovered their early albums and came to appreciate them entirely.

BQ:  I used to really like Van Halen w/David Lee Roth . I never listen to them now

Kid Cudi. Around 4 years ago, I was a music snob. If it wasn't a band like Oasis or The Beatles, etc. I would hate those artists. I even got mad at someone for blasting Kid Cudi. Around last year, I decided to actually check out his work and stop this blind hate. And I was in for a treat, I loved his music. Hell, I have Immortal playing in the background right now.

I first tried listening to both about five years ago when I listened to pop and pop only so naturally I hated them both. Tried LP again last year, love them, NIN this year and loved them also!

I wouldn't say despised.. but Neutral Milk Hotel. I always thought In the Aeroplane over the Sea was a good album but kinda overrated. It eventually started growing on me though and I take back what I said.
