Why do people like Evanescence?
Personally I find their music bland, unoriginal and radio friendly. There are better bands in Europe I find; Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation and Nightwish. Amy Lee cannot sing, I've seen many Evanescence live preformances and she sounds dreadful. Anyone else think the same?

You sound like you have NO depth. Have you even tried to interpret her lyrics? I'll bet you hate her because she is too deep for you. Not only that, she has been voted [that means democratically] the best female vocalist for several years in a row now on the link below. Saying she can't sing is simply a statement of your ignorance. The only one on your list of favourite bands who even makes it anywhere close is Tarja Turunen. Perhaps you just can't stand that some of her songs are slower and sometimes just vocals and piano. That takes skill and her range is amazing. She is the Freddie Mercury of the female world and you are a narrow-minded elitist who can't stand variety, meaning, and emotional resonance. It's your loss. The bands you listed would not even exist if Evanescence hadn't been there first to inspire them and judging by the responses you are getting no one shares your opinion.

I like Evanescence because Amy Lee can convey emotion in her songs. She's a great lyricist and her lyrics are relatable. She has such emotion when she sings. I seen them live in Birmingham last November and they were all outstanding. Not only were they pitch perfect, they put on a great preformance too.
Amy Lee is such a great female role-model. She doesn't promote smoking, drinking, drugs or starving yourself to feel accepted. She supports self-expression and loving yourself for who you are instead of trying to prove yourself to others and reach society's high expectations of you as a female.
Evanescence have helped me through some tough times in the past few years. I was able to find comfort in knowing that I wasn't alone.
I've made new friends with fellow fans.
To be quite honest, my favourite band is Motionless in White and they are completely different than Evanescence. I see what you mean, in a sense, with some of their songs being "radio friendly" but I don't really care that she doesn't feel the need to say "****" every 20 seconds. I quite respect her as an artist because of it.
You are entitled to an opinion, but you are actually so closed-minded, it hurts. You shouldn't go around talking bad about bands. They've saved lives and that alone should be enough for you to show even a little respect towards them. Open your mind before your mouth.
All the best.

Because it's personal choice and you can't say someone who has sold like 17 million albums "can not sing." I can not sing ok. Evanescence has been my favorite band since I was 13 (now turning 23.) They are the reason I know bands like Lacuana Coil, Within Temptation and Nightwish. I have every Nightwish album and many Lacuana Coil and Within Temptation albums, but Evanescence is still my favorite.

>>Amy Lee cannot sing,
Old Amy /agree, but new Amy is one of the best singers in the world currently, not only technically-speaking(range, pitching, spectrum ) but also interpreting and playing piano:

And this video's quality sucks but I'm a singing teacher and I use it to show a super-voice range and technical difficulty. I consider it,together with Mariah Carey's Emotions and Bach's Ave Maria, one of the most difficult songs the humanity has even made, man :D

And why I love Evan? Because they're simply amazing and super-versatile: they play hard rock, ballads, acoustic, alternative, electro, nu, etc... Just two radical examples:

Sooooooo right it is the element. my Lee has the acceptable vocals of the three woman lead singers yet Paramore's songs are really extra relaxing. i do not knoww that many songs via Flyleaf yet they ring a bell in me of Evanescence a lilttle bit.

Proper, structured piano practice helps you stride forwards. Learn here https://tr.im/LearnPiano
I say ‘proper’ because a lot of people have an idea that practice IS just playing songs over and over. Practice needs to involve unchartered territory.
The golden rule is practice what you can't play, not what you can play

Evanescence is a great band stop being uneducated and bashing other peoples taste in music.

Why do people judge other people's taste in music so friggin much? People like them because they're a great band. Get over yourself, everything you like may not be what someone else likes. Quit being self righteous.

I like Evanescence and you can dislike them, that's fine, but don't go trolling their fans and saying your opinion on the internet, just keep your opinion reserved.
