More freedom and less safety. This country has a bad tendency to see over regulation as a solution, especially in the wake of a tragedy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should live in a lawless society, but I don't think we should feel like we have to live in a world of searches, security cameras and metal detectors everywhere we go. If we do, the criminals win.

It doesn't have to be one way or the other. Laws will be broken regardless of how many you put in place, let's try enforcing the laws we already have rather than adding more. Our mental health system needs to be looked at, as well as how we choose to rehabilitate criminals. I think sitting in a cell only works so well for some people, for others they grow angry and fall back into crime as they have no opportunities for work upon release. I think they need more prison counselors, prisoners should be put to work and at least receive some experience in a trade or other field, GED if they didn't graduate, perhaps they can pay a small portion of their salary back for x amount of years to help cover the exprenseof training them . Of course not all prisoners would be suitable for this but I think it would help many who come from rough families and never found their way out. However our country is short on mental health professionals and the economy isn't great, funding is a problem. I've seen studies that suggest prison work programs cut the number of prisoners who return to prison upon release. Our cities would be safer if our inner cities young people felt they had enough opportunities that gang life looked worse than going out on your own. We have lots of problems in this country and something needs to be done, I don't think making more laws is the best solution for our future or our safety.
