How to hang curtains over verticals?

I have a sliding glass door 84 x 84 with verticals over it. Alot of light still comes in. I want to put a set of heavy curtains over it. But how do you get a rod to stick out from the wall that far?

the bracket that holds the curtain rod and attaches to the wall comes in different lengths...and that is totally doable and a great idea...

Lowe's and home depot have brackets that match a nice rod and extent 4" 6" 8' aways from the wall but the problem is with a slider you will also need a center support and an even number of curtains ..

and you can only push the curtains open to the center support

but it all works out and worth the extra money

i got the curtains...and the rods and the extending brackets at Lowe's

I would suggest to take a size first and then try to get the accessories from the hardware stores.and it would be better to call a carpenter.
