What is with the mass stupidity?

Ok, this is just ONE example that I will give you.

The Facebook Home app has gotten horrible 1 star reviews for no reason. Why? Because of mass stupidity.

'I don't like Facebook, so it's useless, 1 star.' - Then WHY would you install it?!?

'My phone isn't supported, 1 star' - Check the supported devices list, and with something like this, you can't expect it to work on all devices.

'It makes my phone slow, 1 star' - This is complete BS. I have been using it on my phone, and it works perfectly fine, and I'm not the only one that's tried it.

'<feature not included>, 1 star' - Does it list it in the description/changelog? No? And plus, it's only on version 1.0.

'It's so hard to use, 1 star' - Really? No it's not. A 5 year old could figure this out. It's even more straightforward than Android itself.

'Only launcher that requires a fb account, 1 star' - youdontsay.jpg It's a FACEBOOK LAUNCHER.

'Takes over your phone, 1 star' - Well, that's kind of what a launcher does...

'Needs a lot of work, 1 star' - This one is partially correct, but the description lists all the features and only the features, so the 1 star is unacceptable.

'I don't get the point of it, 1 star' - How is it the dev's fault you don't get the point? It's your own!

And I don't feel like wasting my time going through any more reviews on this app. Why, people, WHY? Your 'reviews' are invalid and bring up no points what so ever? Here is a sample review to show you what a decent-to-good review would look like:

'4 stars. This app is exactly as advertised, and, for it being in version 1.0, is very solid. You can quickly like posts, upload pictures and post your own updates. ChatHeads are much more useful than having to constantly switch between apps. Also, this app runs as smooth as system software, but occasionally stutters once in a while. Also, this app is not perfect, so here are some things that the devs could work on:

-Having to put your passcode in before you can 'like' something on the lockscreen

-More customization on the lock screen. For example, being able to add a couple shortcuts on the slider

-Folder support in the app drawer

-Widget support in the app drawer

-Unified search bar, (add in a Google Now box in the app drawer at the top, maybe)

-Ability to hide apps in 'all apps' section

-Have all notifications appear on the lock screen, not just chatheads

-Have a dialpad launcher, camera launcher, and something else (that search box?) in the white space at the bottom of the app drawer)

--------------

Ok, so that may have been a bit long, but you get the point. Take the point of view of the reasonable, unbiased person that would actually want the app. Use the app for a day or two, and then compare to the description and changelog. say the pros and cons of the app. It's as simple as that. And as a rule of thumb, you should not rate less than 2.5 stars (50%) if the app follows the description.

Now that my rant is over, could you please tell me why people download an app, not interested in it, just to end up being disappointed in it?!?

    1) They're bored and say: hm, I'll download this. Later...open it: say what is this crap?

    2) Trolling: heh heh: good app, I don't care: I'm going to troll and try to lower ratings! ha!

    3) Totally different expectations of what the app was supposed to be.

It's not just Facebook. Where have you been?

Ever since the first company decided to let the public post their own reviews on a website, practically every product or service sold online has scores of pointless, unsubstantiated, silly "reviews" and maybe a scant handful of thoughtful and well written ones. If you can type, you can write a review. Thus they become meaningless.

A better question is why does it bother you so? You must know what to expect when you read reviews from the great unwashed masses, yet you seem to take it so seriously. It's like expecting a bit of moss to do math and being offended when it doesn't.

Besides ... it's Facebook, for God's sake. Did you really expect maturity and intelligence from that crowd?

People don't understand how to review things well. There should be an option for people like you so you can upvote good reviews and downvote bad reviews and the votes can go into the calculation for the overall rating. I could help but it wouldn't totally prevent people with poor judgment from affecting the rating.
