Alternative to Cable/Satellite for live Sports?

I'm getting tired of paying expensive Cable/Satellite bills and am thinking of moving to some combination of Netflix, Hulu Plus or the like. The only thing stopping me is I like having access to live HD sports. Mainly NFL games. Is there a streaming service or app I can use for the season?

For a partial solution, consider a very good over the air antenna. Live NFL games are (or have been) broadcast by the Fox and CBS networks on Sunday morning and afternoon, and by NBC on Sunday night. You can get those free with the right antenna, in superb HD.

Getting the right antenna for any location is something of a science, and you can find an abundance of info on that on this forum -- use the Search tool at the top of the screen.

Be careful here - Sports have had "locked up" agreements with various networks to show their games with contracts that last years. This prevents re-broadcasting or ... legal internet broadcasting.

This is a 2-way street now. Because of these contracts - stations like NBC or CBS cannot stream the games on their own websites, let alone can anyone else.

Sports are one of the "plum" offerings that define profitable "Season Pass" and other programs from DirectTV and Dish.

They know people keep their subscription because of these packages so they will fight with lawsuits any web site that re-broadcasts them.

So... this is the last holdout that cable/sat has. You wont find any of the major games/series legally on any website. Even the illegal sites might have a few games but not entire seasons or follow your favorite team.

Sorry - but if you like sports, you must stick to Cable/Sat for the moment.
