Do you think Jesus and the Buddha may have been the same person?
I do, i think it a lot. The similarities between the two's life story's I think are drastically similar, and Jesus probably has more in common with the Buddha than any other religious figure in history. I could go on for days with different theories but I'll give you my most recent one, and it concerns the time of when the Buddha meditated non stop under the tree for a month and was tempted by his inner demon Mara, and when Jesus fasted for 40 days (Lent) in the desert and was tempted by the Devil. The Buddha firstly stated something along the lines of "I will not leave this tree until I have found inner peace" (or Nirvana). And if I'm not mistaken Jesus went into the desert to find peace in God (I maybe mistaken). Both the Buddha and Jesus were tempted by there religions version of the evil one, Mara and the Devil. It is widely thought that the Buddha didn't eat during that month, and Jesus didn't eat anything whilst in the desert as recorded in the bible. I think the only thing missing between the two was Jesus' crucifixion, but still it is widely speculated that Jesus survived the crucifixion, and if he did he went into solitude, like the Buddha. I just want to hear some others opinions on the matter if that's ok. I'm just curious as wether they could have been one person that has gotten lost through the ages. I'm not looking for a fight or argument, I would just like solid opinions please. (Also if anyone thinks Buddhism is a philosophy, personally I see it as my religion because I follow the teachings of the Buddha as Christians do with the teachings of Jesus). :)

there are no similarities other than a basic agreement that human interaction should be based on compassion and respect.
The Buddha rarely went into solitude, he was mostly out searching for people interested in what he had to say.
and since 500 years separate them, they cannot be the same person. The teachings are also very different. The Buddhist teaching of emptiness basically negates the Judaic God.

No.
Even if you set aside the different time periods they each lived in, what they said and what they taught were very different things.
Siddhartha would have said that there are no gods. He had an interesting personal life journey. He based his thinking on his native Hinduism and his personal life experience.
Jesus, however, affirmed the Jewish religion, saying that there was one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jesus was the fulfillment of well over a hundred prophecies and prophetic statements. His coming, specifically, had been prophesied since the time of Adam and Eve. From big things like His place of birth, to lesser things such as that none of His bones would be broken, Jesus' life fulfilled those prophecies.
Even things like this show up in the Torah (the Old Testament). In Psalms 22, written around 1000 years before Jesus' crucifixion, we can see an incredible prophecy poem. It is literally as though King David were looking through Jesus eyes while He hung on the cross. There is so much that directly corresponds, it's incredible, even the people gambling for His clothes.
When comparing Jesus and Buddha, it is plain that, in general, there is no comparison. Siddhartha was just a guy. Jesus (Yeshua, if you like) was an incredible figure of prophecy and paved the way for the world's people to be able to become as children of God, with all that entails. He was and is the Son aspect of God, and it is Jesus who people will see on the throne at Judgement.
P.S.- When Jesus went into the wilderness to fast and pray, it was to prepare Himself to begin His ministry by ensuring His will was the will of God the Father and going through testing, like when Satan tempted Him. It was not just to find peace. There is much that appears to point to Jesus really having to be a human while here, including wrestling with human nature to subordinate His will to the Father, as an example for us, and we will always know that when we go through things, God does reeeally understand.

I feel they shouldn't have been interested in the equal things. Buddha used to be now not worried with "afterlife" or the supernatural. Jesus is harder to fathom on the grounds that his teachings have been so corrupted and transformed that it is difficult to grasp his common intent. For illustration i do not suppose Jesus ever claimed divinity. This kind of thing would have most likely made the Buddha snigger I consider.

No. They were not the same people. But they did teach the same things.
Oddly, Christianity no longer follows the teachings of Jesus. Does that mean you don't really follow the teachings of Buddha?
Do you have a live qualified teacher to instruct you in how to be a Buddhist? If not, you probably aren't doing it properly.

though there are some similarities there are also many differences between the teaching and the lives of the two founders. firstly Jesus said about a god said that he is great and to keep faith in him, buddha said that here is no god , mind is great and keep faith in your self. Jesus said about believing and praying while Buddha said not to believe anything because he said it but to think by your own consciousness and instead of praying to meditate and develop your mind and gave the full freedom to criticize or question any thing in hiss teachings . the teaching of jesus were spread after he was crucified but not during his lifetime but during Buddhas time there were thousands of followers including kings of some states. Jesus said about the heaven you can get after death but buddha said about the nirvana you can get during the human life. Jesus said that humans were slaves of god but buddha said that they are fully independent great being and said that it was their are own thought which makes then either slaves or rulers finally Jesus died for others but buddha lived 80 years for others traveling and preaching and sleeping only for three hours per day.respect both of them but you can follow the religion of one only because one is the religion of god other the religion of mind and humanity.

No they are almost nothing alike. Christianity is very different from Buddhism. I think a better example to Jesus would be Krishna.

No they weren't. The Buddha lived some 500 years earlier and never pretended to be a god.

Jesus is the LORD God Almighty
Buddha is dead man who because of his rejecting salvation in Christ alone has went the way of all the Earth.

Not even close. They are both from different religions...one that makes sense and one that does not. I think you can guess which is which.
