How can I get my 1 year old to sleep through the night?

My daughter is turning 1 in a week but she sleeps worse at night than when she was a newborn. When she was 2 weeks old she started sleeping between 5 and 7 hours at a time before waking up. When she was about 5 months old she started waking up repeatedly about every 30 to 60 minutes. It kind of got better but since then she has never slept more than 3 or 4 hours at a time. I know it's not a feeding issue, she's never really spit up or anything. It's not teething either, she didn't get her first tooth until she was over 7 months. I've tried letting her cry it out but she'll either cry so hard she throws up or she'll stand up in her crib and just stand there crying. I'm exhausted and i just don't know what to do anymore.

Oh you poor thing, you must be shattered. I know my two have always been a nightmare with wind, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I can burp either of mine (my eldest is 3 and no longer needs burping!) and they would still hold burps for an hour or so after a feed which would make them wriggle, squirm and be unsettled. You could also try some lavender drops on her pillow - it makes them sleepy and relaxed and helps encourage sleep. Sure she's not teething? It can take months for teeth to come in - took my eldest 2 months to get her first teeth through, 5 months to push the last molars out, argh! You know her best though - good luck!

My sister is 1 so I have some experience with this. Make sure she gets a big meal before she goes to sleep so she'll stay asleep longer and won't wake up because she is hungry. Another thing is to get a small space heater for your bedroom because babies get cold easier than us, so this could help her sleep longer. Good luck :)
