Visiting Washington, D.C. - Books?
I'm 17 and me and my family are visiting Washington, D.C. this summer; I'd like to enhance my experience when I'm there as much as possible, so aside from brushing up and ameliorating my knowledge of U.S. history, are there any good and informative books that I should read which pertain to general U.S. history, specific events, or even simply Washington, D.C. and its history? All recommendations are appreciated.

Here are a few:
Laura Bergheim: The Washington Historical Atlas
Kenneth R Bowling: The creation of Washington, D.C.
Diane Maddex: Historic Buildings of Washington, D.C.
Alexander D. Mitchell: Washington, D.C. Then and Now
or there are lots of novels like Advise and Consent
