PlayStation Network- is it worth the money to subscribe for the PlayStation Plus program?
I've only had a PlayStation 3 for a couple of years and I've been wondering if it is good program. Only one of my friends on PlayStation Network is a Plus member. He says it's good, but I think I need to hear more than just one person's opinion about it. I know that there are select PS titles available for free so long as you remain a member. I also understand that you receive discounts on select add on content as well. If you are/were a member, do you think it's a good idea to join?

I am a member, and it's astounding. Just by signing up right now you could get a decent selection of full games [inFamous 2, Ratchet & Clank All-4-One, Darksiders, Vanquish, Demon's Souls] PSN/Arcade games [The Cave, Malicious, Megaman 9 & 10] and those are just the handful I can think of right now.
Licenses [allowing you to play them once they're downloaded] for all the games you get for free while a member of PS+ expire when you're no longer a member. [Though you don't have to delete or redownload them if your membership lapses]
However, so long as you're a member ALL the games you get for free are yours and the full game; being a member for longer periods of time gives you more windows of opportunity to add more and different free games to your download list, and make them available whenever so long as you're a PS+ member.
On top of that; PS+ members get incredibly good discounts on a lot of things [Full Games, DLC, Movies, etc] and 1 hour trials. This means you can download a full version of the game [nothing locked like the 'rental' versions of discs from Redbox] and you can play it for a full 60 minutes.
Overall, PS+ is an outstanding deal and pays for itself in about 5 minutes.

It's absolutely fantastic! They're incredibly generous with the Instant Game Collection lineup; there's a lot of variety and the games alone are enough for the subscription to pay for itself many times over. There are plenty of other perks as well, such as automatic updates, a gigabyte of cloud storage, a selection of free themes and avatars, discounts, and occasional beta access to upcoming games. I have no intention of dropping PS Plus anytime in the foreseeable future, especially since it benefits both PS3 and Vita owners as well as the announcement that it's going to "play a prominent role in the PS4 landscape".

It's worth it if you buy a lot of stuff from psn. It's 50 dollars a year so to make it worth the money, you need to save 50 dollars. The problem is that most of the discount psn+ games are pretty crappy (at least for me anyway). They're either really old and people buy it just for the nostalgia, or they're crappy games to begin with.
