what should i major in if i want to become a speech pathologist?

but i would want to work in a school/classroom setting... i'm thinking just speech pathology would be good enough but now i'm worried that i might need to major in elementary education instead (and that seems like a lot more work).

SP is a Masters degree program. You need to complete a Bachelors degree first and also complete the prerequisite coursework to even be considered for a SP program.

"Since speech language pathology isn’t a degree offered to undergraduates, most students get their bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders, since this focuses on problems with speech, language and hearing."

Here is the website for a very reputable communications disorders Bachelors program:

Good luck - May I suggest that you always look at your state's public colleges and universities to keep your costs and debts in control. SPs make decent money but not if you have a mountain of debt.
