so Christians, god doesnt ''want'' to make us ill etc?
but its from choices he has no control over right?
then how come very devout people get cancer. They break bones. they get sick. they get fired.
You know the people, the ones who have never done a thing wrong in their lives, the ones who are just very devout.
Or babies.
How does what they have done and choices they have made reflect on if they die, get sick get cancer etc.
I asked this as I wanted clarification from some previous answers, where they stated that god doesnt want to make us ill. I figured well if he is all you say he is, shouldnt he have the power?
Im a devout atheist LOL
@fact chkr thank you for eloquently extending onto it!

You make a good point, but it leads to an even better one. They like to point to the awesomeness of creation as evidence that God exists. But they look at the blue sky, the birds flying, the flowers, the trees, the furry animals... it does seem idyllic if that's as far as it goes. But it goes further. Life outside our houses is incredibly brutal and desperate. Creatues are either hunters, or they are hunted. Imagine what it's like for an animal to be killed and eaten by another animal. Very few of them die of old age. Or as you say, they break bones, get sick, get cancer, and have no hope of medical care. For most wild animals, life really sucks.
Plus, even for humans, things aren't as perfect as Christians say it is. They say we are "fearfully and wonderfully made." Sure, once we have eyeglasses to cure myopia, or any of thousands of drugs to cure everything from a headache to cancer. If our bodies were truly designed by God, why don't they work better? If our brains are so great, why are there so many people doing so many stupid things?
And we're supposed to praise the God who created all this? Please.

Yes and no.
You seem to see God as some big band leader in the sky directing everything that happens. The people he likes, he gives a lot of good things. The people he doesn't like he smites. This is a good Hollywood picture of God, but it doesn't have any relation to the God of the Bible.
Let me address some of your assumptions.
First, God doesn't make us ill. Pain, sickness, etc all come from the enemy.
Second, in theology and in the secular world a lot of what happens come from our choices (if you drink you will be hung over), a lot comes from other people's choices (I am an American because someone 100 years ago decided to leave Russia. My distant cousins are descended from the brother who stayed. Because of this, our quality of life, our self-perception, our world view is very different, but we didn't choose it.), a lot comes from circumstances (because I grew up in the desert breathing dust, I have more allergies than I otherwise would have, but less than the neighbor kid whose mother smoked.).
Biblically God loves and blesses everyone. Matthew 5:45
That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Because he loves us, he doesn't force anything on us. If you disrespect your mother she will punish you. If you disrespect God, he will make a way to save you.
However, in the beginning God gave mankind a choice. Man chose to trust the serpent over the word of God. By this, man chose to give the devil part of the dominion God gave to man. This is like sand in the desert. God isn't going to go in and zap anyone for not believing. This includes the devil.

"but its from choices he has no control over right?"
Do you not see the problem with declaring that God is omnipotent and then saying that "he has no control over" certain events? If God is omnipotent, then he, by definition, has control over every single thing that happens, whether through action or inaction.
As for babies getting sick, that's just life. No god has anything to do with it. However, Christians believe that everyone is sinful from birth. To be a Christian, you must assume that every single person is evil from the moment they are conceived.

God does not (always) interfere with human affairs, granting miracles here and there like a genie from a bottle. Yes miracles have occurred, but for the most part, things like natural disasters and other evils that are natural, and not caused by an immoral decision of another person, are simply part of life. Everyone agrees they suck, but it wouldn't be free will if God stopped every tornado, tsunami, or cancer cell that has existed. It is not like these things happen from a will, or lack of will from God, they just happen because it is a part of life, a part of our trials and struggles while here on earth. You cant ask God to grant you a million dollars, or bring back a dead relative, He isnt here to serve your every need, but he loves you and will help you along the way. Its complicated and hard to explain to someone who is reading this with bias but essentially, its not free will if God just makes you happy all the time, He gave us free will because he loves us.

first of all you don't know what people really do in their lives. those that truly follow God are kept from illness. but, how do we know who they are? we don't. relationships with God are personal. you can't say that that person is a christian and why did they get cancer if you don't know if they truly practice true belief and love of God...so your question is irrelevant.

Read the Bible about trials and tribulations. We are not exempt from the curse placed on this earth due to the fall of man. God said He will be our strength in those times.
