How do you get fingerprinted in PA?

I am going to become a priest. To enter the seminary, I need a criminal background check. To get this background check, I must send in my fingerprints, and they must be done by a certified technician. The form that the seminary gave me directed me to get printed at my local police station. I went to the local police station, but they told me that they cannot help me. Instead, they directed me to an agency called Cogent. I tried to register so I could get an appointment, but then found out that they only fingerprint people if they are entering a government agency like the Department of Education.

This is a huge headache.

Can anyone help?

Go to your local PSP barracks and make an appointment to see the ID Unit Trooper. he/she will take care of everything. If you are in southeast PA (St. Charles Seminary?) , your best bet is to go to Belmont Barracks (Troop K Headquarters) on Belmont Avenue, they do this all the time. They charge about $28.00 for the service.

In Penn you get a full Fed background check via the State Police.

    Cost is around $28.00

Then there is the cost of the fingerprinting. There are about 80 sites that send the digital prints directly and securely.

Look up "3m Cogent" and you zip code for the nearest site.

Better yet try to figure out ar at least read what they gave you. It likely has specific instructions.

Fro more info on full national background checks in Penn go to:

actaully read the whole thing so you are less confused.

Did you try your county sheriff's department? If they can't help you either then ask them who has the ability to do it.
