I'm thinking about getting a tattoo and...?

I was just wondering how much it will hurt? I'm planning on getting the lyrics "it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive" from the song Badlands by Bruce Springsteen and I want it on the middle of my inner bicep.

How bad it hurts depends on your pain tolerance.

I personally found it to be painful, but that's just me.

    How old are you?

How long have you been thinking of getting this tattoo?

When I was 15-17 I really wanted a tattoo, a lot of my friends got the semi permant tats, but my mum would not sign the consent for me, she said to wait till I was 18 then if i still wanted i could do it myself.

I got to 18 and I didnt want it anymore, upto 21, I didnt want the tattooo anymore, I had already decided the design I wanted, but didnt do it.

Then when i was 23 I started thinking again i wanted one. I spent 2 years, thinking and looking at designs and hinking where i wanted it. Twice I went into the shop, and the guy refused to do it for me - he told me to come back when i knew what i wanted.

I went back 4 months later, with the design i wanted for the back of my neck. He smiled and said sit down. I really trusted him then because he could have just done it the first time, but he wanted me to be sure.

It doesnt hurt like you may expect. A lot of people will try to scare you and tell you it is worse than it is. I would say it is uncomfortable and irrating feeling more than anything. It is like someone scartching over the same part of your skin again and again with a pen - but its honestly not that bad.

Put it this way, the 'pain' certainly would not stop me getting another one.

I would just say make sure you are really sure about the design and the placing before you do it. I changed my mind several times, but i have had mine now for 4 years and I still love it

    Good luck

I have expierience in getting/doing tattoos...the bicep is a sensitive place just pinching let alone stabbing with a bunch of needles a million times but everyone has higher pain tolerance. and also it depends on the person doing it if they are drilling deeper than they are suppose to then it will hurt worse. its not a pain like you would think. it is a burning scraping pinching sensation. hard to explain. best of luck to you!!

It depends on your pain tolerance. For my first tattoo I got writing on my ribs when I was 17, and everyone was freaking me out because it's one of the worst spots on your body to get done but I didn't even shed a tear! You just gotta relax and remember to breathe! It feels almost like a weird pinch that just isn't going away until they're done haha. Best of luck, you'll be fine!

I got Spider-Man's head on my ribs yesterday, and the pain of getting it done was painful, but bearable... Afterwards I got it wrapped and went to the pub for a game of pool, that's when the pain hit it is still really hurting now. But just think the pain doesn't last forever and at the end of it you have something you really wanted!
