how long did it take for you to set up your Wii U?
we have the 32gb model, and high speed cable internet.

You need to define set-up.
Getting it out of the box and hooking it up to the TV took about 30 mins.
Updating the system software (back in november) which was a full update, about 20 mins.
Transferring old content from a Wii to the Wii U, under 10 mins and there was a fair amount on there!

My "box-to-TV" was about the same as the guy above. about 30 min (would have been faster, but I was recording an unboxing video, so did a lot of talking when recording).
Downloading the update took about an hour.
Wii to Wii U transfer took about an hour for me, too. I didn't have a lot of WiiWare/VC to move, since I had them all on SD card, but I had a ton of game save data (I had forgotten I had played a number of them), which took a long time to copy over.
So, your mileage may vary.
