i hate buy one get one free offers.isn't this a scam?

should'nt it be re-labelled "pay twice the price if you decide to buy less than two of the items in question".

all stores do is double the price then offer two for one.

or pump up the price by 50% then offer three for two!

please don't fall for this scam.

It's not a scam but it tempts people to buy things they don't need. these offers appeal to our fear of loss and desire for gain. It's a psychological game we allow ourselves to play, thinking we are somehow better off.

When I am in the supermarket, I rarely go for these offers, because I simply end up buying things I haven't budgeted for. I end up WORSE OFF, even if I get the product for a great price.

Everyone should use their common sense and look at the weight of the item and how much it was before

Some shops probably offer a good deal

You should do this with everything including discount stores and some £1 stores have smaller items for the money, a special version of the product they can sell at a lower pricer. Sometimes that means you are better off paying more in another shop.

It depends what you are buying, I work in a book/stationary shop and our offers are genuine the prices don't go up. But it does make you wonder if they can charge that for two why don't they just say half price? In supermarkets you have to watch them, some have better offers than others. Sainsuburys is one for the useless offers most of the time anyway, they have had some better offers. Asda is the best items for £1

Also shop with a list, you're only saving money if you need it or intended to buy it

buy one get one free is worded to entice customers that's the job of the shop to sell things. If you buy tolitries on offer you are saving, sometimes you save when bulk buying but if you only want one then it's a pain.

    Everything is cheaper in bulk

BOGOF offers are only a scam if you use more simply because 1 is "free". For example you would normally only buy 1 donut but buy 2 and eat 2 just because the 2nd is "free".

If it's shampoo you don't use more because you buy 2 at once.
