H+ Concentration in Solution?

Why is it true that the Hydronium ion concentration is the same in 100 mL of a .10 M NaOH solution as it is in 10 mL of a 0.10 M NaOH solution.

    Because M which is short for moles / Liter is the same for both. Consider what you are actually saying.

    Concentration means ratio.

    In a 100 mL solution it is true that you have more [H+] ions floating around, but it is also true that there are more water molecules around to absorb all those [H+] ions.

    Remember ratios mean equal amounts when division has taken place. If you have an acid with a concentration of 1 mol / Liter, it will still be 1 mol/Liter when you cut the amount in half. That's how ratios work.
