I just put my dog to sleep and now my family is mad at me! Now what?

Question

Our dog was about 4 years old and she had recently started to limp. I hated to see her suffer anymore so I made the difficult decision to bring her to the vet and had her put to sleep. My family is very mad at me but somebody had to make this decision. I probably should have told them that I was going to do it and let them say goodbye but I did not want to make the decision any harder and I did not want the dog to suffer any more. They said that the reason they are mad is that I did not try to get the dog treated for the limp and that I just went and put it to sleep. Well what was I supose to do I made the hard decision so the stupid dog would not suffer any more and this is my thanks? Should I by them a new dog to replace the old one or just tell them to go to hell and get over it!?

Ok. Let's sort this out.
1. A dog limping isn't always grounds for euthanasia- so they may believe it was unnecessary. Sit down and calmly explain why it was.
2. It really wasn't fair for you to put the dog down without telling them. People like to be involved in a big decision like that, and I would be PISSED if I wasn't allowed to see my dog for the last time to say goodbye
3. Do not buy a new dog- dogs are not material objects and a new dog cannot replace the original.
4. Don't "tell them to go to hell and get over it". I would explain your choice, and why it was best for the dog, and admit that it wasn't fair to not tell them and apologize. It's hard to lose a pet, so allow them time to get over it.

so you ended her life ... Wow nice move she was limping that would heal but then you end her life ....... That's wrong  shame on u
