pc wont load windows 7, keeps restarting?
hey again guys, i am facing a problem and im not really sure what to do.
i am in an internet cafe with 25 computers which previously had windows xp. i took one computer and did a fresh install of windows 7 and installed drivers and games e.t.c. Then i took that disk and mirrored it with norton ghost. i used the mirrored disk to 2 of 25 computers and it worked perfectly. but then when i did ghost to 3 other computers succesfully, when windows trying to load it restarts immidiately when windows logo appears. i figured is something to do in the bios and changed drive to both legacy and native but still nothing. i inserted windows 7 disk to repair but it says startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. i opened cmd and tried:
bootrec /fixMBR
bootrec /fixBoot
bootrec /rebuildBCD
bootrec /scanOS
still nothing. what am i missing here? any help would be appreciated. thanks. (note that not all computers here are the same. also the mirrored hdd i used was from a core2duo computer and installed on two i7 computers and worked great)
oh, the motherboard to the computers not loading windows 7 is Intel DG31PR

there are many reasons why you CANNOT do this
and a few why you SHOULD NOT do this.
it can cause serious security issues to do with security credentials.
the main reason why it wont boot is MAINBOARD CHIPSET difference
the Chipset provides the BIOS interface
the BIOS interface is used to enumerate the PCI devices.
by doing what you have done you are just complicating the issue of upgrading.
Since VISTA windows now OWNS the BIOS and reads and writes CMOS values when it feels like. This means most manufacturers also supply a Windows Utility to SEE and ADJUST all CMOS settings from inside Windows. Negating the need for a BIOS interface at boot time.
hence UEFI Bios's
the security credentials issues are much more complex and it means from a security point of view windows may cause serious grief with shared items on pc's that have invalid security credentials not relating to a valid set of credentials that would have been created if the proper procedure had been followed. In other words the Hardware detected affects what security credentials a system acquires.
in addition to these problems
some hard drives will be AF(big 4K sectors) and some wont
you can successfully apply a non AF drive image, to an AF formatted drive.
However one thing that happens when you do this is windows knows something dodgy has happened and straight away your windows updates will NEVER update again.
also this does not take account of the fact that a drive should be PREPARED for AF use before a system is installed.
finally there is the other issue that most OEM's only provide BIOS updates in a form for the Original opsys only. This means if an important bios update comes along, you may have no way of installing it

As you have put in Xp after abode windows 7 it has overwritten boot loader. So now you ought to repair MBR. Steps; a million)you opt for abode windows 7 cd. 2)Boot your pc to the abode windows 7 DVD 3)click the button for "Use restoration strategies" 4)Then opt for "Command instantaneous". 5)enter: BootRec.exe /fixmbr 6)press enter. completed
