Can I get a restraining order against my sons 18 year old girlfriend?

We live in Florida, he is 15 she is 18, since he met her 2 months ago he went totally berserk, he cusses his mother, skips school almost daily, his GPA dropped from a to F. She will not leave him alone and chats with him until the early morning.

I have tried all I know, from long talks to threats, even had to used restraining force against him in order to make him stay home.

A week ago he made little cuts on his right forearm, took him to the hospital but they released him 3 hrs latter.

Yes, you can if a judge sees fit.

But honestly I don't think this problem will go away just by getting a restraining order. It may even make things worse.

It sounds like he has some deeper problems than just a bad girlfriend. No kid will make a complete 180 like that, just because he has a new girlfriend. He has to have something else going on. Have you tried talking to him about this to find out why he's acting this way?

Maybe you should consider counseling, or even inpatient treatment if it's really bad. I was the same way when I was his age, I had to spend 2 weeks in a "recovery facility" (aka crazy hospital) and it changed my behaviour 100%. People even said I looked "less mean" after I got out.

He desires help and that i could honestly get her arrested for it. And he desires expert counseling. you are the be certain get to it!

And you think this 18 year-old is the sole cause for your son's obvious mental break-down?

I think you need to take him to a psychologist as soon as possible. This seems much more serious than a girlfriend.

If anything, I think she'd had a positive effect on him which has brought up to the surface whatever emotional problems he is now facing.

It is up to you to help him.

Uh, does the 18 year old know of statutory rape? I would definitely get a restraining order out on her.

Should be simple. Talk to the police, your son is a minor. Even boarding school is still a possibility.

    Peace.

so obviously you aren't his parent or guardian. and obviously a restraining order isn't going to stop him or her because he obviously has a mental issue.

No you can't. A restraining order is for people in IMMEDIATE danger.

You can file for one. List your son as a protected person as well as yourself. She won't be allowed to contact him after that.

That sounds more like a drug problem than a girlfriend problem
