What is the length of a league?

Eg, 20.000 leagues under the sea? Or, other references to a "league"?

    league is a.unit of distance equal to 3.0 statute miles (4.8 kilometers)multiple this by 20, 0000 and you have a distance in the sea but not down to the bottom of the sea.
