Questions on Mary and Evelyn?

My husband and I love both of these names, and we're having a hard time choosing which one we like more. The more questions you answer, the more chance of best answer. Thanks!

1. Which do you like best?

2. Which goes best with sister Callie?

3. Which flows better, Mary Evelyn Purple or Evelyn Mary Purple?

4. What sort of person do you picture with each name?

5. What style do you think of, with each name?

Update:

I know Callie's not as classy as the other names I like, but I can't really change the name of my four-year-old, even if I wanted to. She sometimes goes by her full name, Callie Jean, if that helps.

    1. I like Mary the best. It is the essential classic name. Evelyn is very nice, too, though.

    2. I think Evelyn goes better with Callie since you can shorten evelyn to Evie if you like.

    3. Mary Evelyn flows better to me.

    4. Mary would have blue eyes and dark curly hair and be tall and regal when she grew up. Evelyn would also have curly hair but it would be lighter brown, almost blonde. She would have brown eyes and be more petite and be a tomboy.

    5. Mary, classic. Evelyn, old fashioned but gaining in popularity.

    1. They're both beautiful and classy, but I'd go with Evelyn...Mary has been so popular for so much of history (even though it's not so much right now) that Evelyn feels a bit fresher and more exciting.

    2. Neither really, Callie (assuming it's a full name) seems more modern and informal than either.

    3. Mary Purple makes me picture a children's book character, a funny little old lady who dresses in head to toe purple. I'd have to say Evelyn Mary Purple since you hear first name + last name more often.

    4. Mary is so versatile I don't get a clear mental image...I suppose if I had to pick one it would be a Renaissance painting of the Virgin Mary, serene and golden-haired. Evelyn I picture as a 1920's society lady with bright eyes, dark curly hair, lively, well-read, sophisticated, likes racing around in motor-cars and dining with artists and poets.

    5. Mary is tried and true, timelessly popular, fits in with names like Anne, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Margaret. Evelyn is more old-fashioned in a way that's currently back in style, fits in with names like Amelia, Isabella, Charlotte, Lily.

    Mary

    Mary

Mary Evelyn Purple...is Purple her middle name? I would consider changing it to avoid teasing...

I don't really know, but a sweet, cute little girl!

    Mary- cute, sweet, friendly

    Evelyn- sassy, spunky, attitude

I think that Callie Jean sounds much better than Callie. And I know that you can't really change it! ;) I've considered changing/modifying some of my kids' names, but decided against it because of all the paperwork...haha
