Do you prefer the mainstream music of the genres you like, or the lesser known hidden gems?

Both. For me popularity, sales, record labels, etc, have nothing to do with it. As long as I think it sounds good, I like it.

Like you, I love both. But if I had to choose between mainstream music and underground, I would choose the less known music. That's where the real talent/music is. I don't really want to hear the same lyrics and beats all the time given by mainstream music.

Lesser known hidden gems becasue I usually skip 'exploring famous bands' part when I find a new genre.

I keep telling myself "They are so accessible. I can listen to them anytime I want. Let explore the lesser known bands first". And I still haven't listened to most famous bands of my favorite genres.

Yes, underground bands are great. I've talked to some of my favorite bands and they are all really nice.

I like the lesser known gems. I haven't liked mainstream since the early 80's.

I love not-so-popular bands. The stuff most people at my school has never heard of. In my opinion rap is the worst genre ever and modern day pop is horrible. I never listen to anything off the radio. I like being unique with my music.

As far as new music it keep that trictly to metal and rock. The stuff on the raido i just cant back up. For great music thats real unknown look into forigne metal bands, older school country.

My favorite genre is power metal. Bands like Stratovarius, Avantasia, and Gamma Ray. These are all very big names in the power metal world; their music having 100,000+ views on YouTube, but sadly, if you were to ask anyone on the street if they were familiar with them, it is unlikely they will say they are.

I prefer underground music.
