My computer lacks a hard drive will this work?

I want to run my actual computer with this however I would also like to use it as a storage device for the laptop I have in my office. will this work?

    No. It is a network drive and can not directly boot ANY computer. And if you could, it would make it impossible to use it also as a storage device for another machine. To boot with no hard drive you would need to run a full BOOTP server with the correct installation image for your machine and a DNS and DHCP server to locate the boot machine..

    No that wouldn't work, as Fred has explained.

    If your computer doesn't have a hard drive but has a CD drive, you could still boot Linux and access a shared network drive like that one.

    But the easiest solution would probably be to get an internal hard drive for your computer, install Windows and then create a shared folder for your laptop to access. Of course it would only be accessible when your computer is up & running.
