Is rap getting worse?
When I was a little kid living in West Philadelphia, I enjoyed rap artists such as Chris Brown, Bobby Valentino, DJ Webstar, Lil Mama, Keyshia Cole, and much more. As I became a teen, I totally ditched rap for rock, dubstep, and a little bit of country. Now, as a 17 year old, I have started to ease back into rap, but not the rap of this decade. I enjoy 80's rap from artists such as Biz Markie, Rob Base, the Sugar Hill Gang, Keith Sweat, and Salt n' Peppa. I listen to 80's rap because I can't stand the artists of today such as Lil Wayne, Macklemore, Trinidad James, Drake, Meek Mill, and all the other crappy artists of today. Do you think that rap is going downhill? What decade was the best decade for rap?

Peace. It's good you get to learn about Hip Hop history. You'll have a leg up on a lot of others. There are decent artists out today but you have to search. Me, myself I listen to Christian Rap. I like Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Trip Lee and others. It's all about the words and lyrics and messages though man. I feel ya. And back then having a good time.

Macklemore is awesome...I'm only judging him on thrift shop. But thrift shop as a pop-rap song by a one hit wonder is 100X better than Ice Ice Baby. A lot of stuff in the 80's and 90's sucked pretty bad...we only hear the good stuff for the most part.

I loved chris brown,bobby valentino, lil mama, dj webstar when I was little also. Lil wayne used to be my favorite rapper idk what happened I hate to say it but he sucks now. I think rap was good in 90s-2008. I miss artists like Missy Elliot,Beastie Boys, Tupac,Biggie. Hiphop isn't good anymore.

i like all music, cant stand country.. but id say rap is going down hill simply because there not talking real its all raping about money and how much stuff they have instead of real talk immortal technique, mos def, talib kwali are a few you should listen to if you enjoy real rap music non violent but rapping about real stuff.. life situations and life in a urban enviorment

Art only means something to the eyes of the beholder. If you believe so then sure. I listen to Odd Future, Eminem, and Kid Cudi and stuff like that so it doesn't even matter to me.
