YES, men & women are now equal; however, back when the tradition was started, women were NOT equal & the man did ALL the work outside the home & he took GOOD care of his woman. The woman did ALL the work inside the home & she took GOOD care of her man!!! So, the man asked the woman out courting & he proposed marriage as he was going to be the one to support her!!! Since then, things have changed & women now have equal rights!!! I know many girls who ask the guy out & many who proposed marriage!!!

No, we are not equal. But sometimes we only start to realise that when we get older, get pregnant, or have to breastfeed. As a young girl you are the queen. Everyone likes you and the world accepts you. But once pregnant you lose your attractiveness, your mobility, and ability to make income. In fact you start to realise that you are not much more then a handicap. This is when your husband becomes over you and in charge. It is up to him to feed you and your kids, provide income and support. Your friends and even family often turn their back on you because they feel you are not much more then a bag of troubles. This is why women wait for a man to propose, so he knows it
was his decision, not just you imposing all your problems on him. However technically a good man generally does what his woman wants. If you let your boyfriend know that you would like to be married and if he is a good man he would eventually propose. So usually and almost always it is a two sided decision, and men proposing is just a teaditional ritual erformed tio demonstrate his free willand whole hearted participation in in the decision. I think it is a good thing.

Its traditional... Although many girls are asking guys out and proposing to them these days.
It comes from years ago when the woman would have a dowry (an inheritance) and would be worth a lot of money. They basically had the power to accept or turn down any man they chose. But the men had to work for it.

It's just more traditional. No one says it has to be that way, but that's the normal way things have been for ages., especially in proposing. If a girl wants to do something bad enough for a date, she may just ask the guy out.

Because the guys are the only ones who can grow a pair of balls and approach her. Girls are too afraid of getting rejected
