Do violin bow strings ever need to be changed?

I'm going to change the strings on my violin and i wanna know if i should change the bow strings too even though they're not broken. Are they like the violin strings and they need to be changed because of less quality over time or does the quality last forever?

As hair ages it requires more rosin to make the hair function properly, This additional rosin makes the sound scratchier. The other problem is that during the summer the hair stretches, it also shrinks during the winter, but never back to the same place. This causes the frog to keep moving back on the stick changing the balance point and possibly preventing the proper tightening of the hair. So even if the hair looks ok, it is a good idea to replace it every year.

Good I play violin 3/4 dimension (pretty small lol) however the horse just isn't actually harmed on this approach. What they do to make the bows is when the horses tail or commonly the mane will get too long they cut the additional hair off. Then they bleach the hair to make it white. I do not believe it has some thing to do with being a vegan, I believe it's ok. Hope this helps! P.S. You commonly already be aware of this however in your bow do not touch the hair due to the fact that the grease/moisture on your arms get on it so the bow will not work.

It's called hair, and yes, the hair needs to be changed when it wears out. For a professional, that's every 3-4 months or so. A student can usually go a year or more, and I know kids who have been playing on the same bow hair for 5-6 years because they don't practice much.

Bows may eventually need to be rehaired, but you can't do it yourself. If you don't have a problem with the bow hair, don't worry about it.
