I need help with this?

I'm one of those people who is shy at first but once you get to know me and i get comfertable talking to them i'm a great guy, but i always blow first impressions and just can't talk to people because i can't start conversations with people. so yeah any ideas or stories from people who had this same problem... its ruining my social life...
