The reason jailbreaking can cause problems with getting stuff fixed is because it voids the warranty. But your warranty won't always guarantee a free repair anyway...
First, the warranty only lasts one year - after that you need to pay to fix it no matter what.
Second, the warranty only covers problems that weren't your fault - but if YOU broke it (for instance by dropping it, or bricking it when trying to jailbreak it), then you need to pay to fix that too.
So you can always get your iPod fixed if you pay; all jailbreaking does is sometimes make it harder to get it fixed for free.

go on ebay and get ipod touch 3g demonstrate replacements. in the experience that your liquid crystal demonstrate is broken aswell then getit too. you will get the demonstrate and kit to get the ipod touch open and do it your self. it will be like $8-$13 to purchase them on ebay and do it your self.
