I got a problem, my daughter just got her drivers license and because I could get cheaper insurance with?

another company, I switched insurance companies. Needless to say yesterday when she was backing out of our car port she hit the carport pole and scratched my car pretty bad and knocked some trim off. The scratch bothers me the most because it's long and down to the metal and paint is chipping off. Can anyone tell me how I can fix this with out filing a claim?

    You have 3 choices

    1) You find a body shop and pay yourself. In the UK there are specialist body shops for scratches and small dents rather than major body damage.

    2) You do the work yourself

    3) You make a claim

Why do you think insurance is so high for young drivers?

Newly licensed daughter and just had an accident. LOL

I agree that it is best not to file a claim on your insurance policy, since most accidents stay on your record for 3 years and then drops off. This will be a surcharge-able accident, so don't want to pay higher premiums for the next 3 years.

Go to 2 or 3 body shops and have them write you an estimate. My guess is that the damages should not be that high. Also, if, you have collision coverage on your car, then most likely have a $500 deductible, so, IF, the damages are less than $500, then they wont pay.

Take the lowest estimate and have it fixed. Does your daughter have a part time job? If not, then suggest she pay you back by doing specific chores for 6 months, or if working part time, pay some from each paycheck. This way she will learn responsibility for her actions.

    good luck
