Windows xp installation not working correctly?

I was trying to install windows xp on my computer with a recovery disc provided by Dell (computer is dell with most components being dell) and got an error with installing the file drivers.cab and all files after this drivers.cab file.

The cd used to install was scratched up a bit, so I bought a replacement recovery disc from Dell again compatible with my computer. The same error occurred (drivers.cab not installing).

I used the disc with all of the same components to reinstall windows xp before this happened, and it worked fine. the file did not show any problems and now it is doing this for some reason...

some more information to help diagnosis: my SATA hard drive for some reason after installation was not recognized, but it now is being recognized again after unplugging it and plugging it back in.

need help asap

You're drive is most likely corrupt. Probably a bad sector. I would buy a new one they are fairly cheap and I'm 95% sure it's your problem

Hard to say. I'd run diagnostics against the memory and hard drive to see if there are any hardware problems.
