Publishing Rights Help!?
I have recently written a book and I wanted to know since it's original do I hold the rights to it? Would I be able to publish it on Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing)? It says: The KDP Terms and Conditions require that you hold the publishing rights to any content you upload for sale in the Kindle Store. Please do not upload or attempt to upload any content for which you do not have rights. The KDP Terms and Conditions allow us to reject or remove content from KDP and the Kindle Store.
Would I be eligible to publish it?
In other words, do I hold the publishing rights?

Under the Berne Convention Implementation Act 1988, the copyright is yours automatically, and part of it is the film rights and publishing rights where they haven't been sold. So unless you have an exclusive book deal with Scholastic or Random House, you can go ahead and publish your work with Amazon and/or other online publishers.

Since it's original, you own the rights. Many people think that you have to have something copyrighted to get the rights. This is false. Original works are the property of the writer, no matter what. Copyright let's the world know you published the material on a certain date, which could be difficult to prove against someone else's claim of copyright without it.

As this agreement is between you and KDP, maybe they are best equipped to explain their terms of use.
