What are good novels/poems/films with these themes? (eg. Isolation)?

I am not 100% sure that this is what you are seeking but I am thinking the movie: Cast away with Tom Hanks.

The need for human contact:

The man finds himself alone on an island after his plane crashes and to fill the need for human contact he paints a face on a balloon and he talks to it, and even argues with it.

Isolation, the effects it has.

The man spends 4 years on the island alone, I am sure they depict very well how isolation can effect someone..
