From your description, this sounds like a cobweb spider now established in the UK.

They can be considered house spiders for all practical purposes, and are harmless.

This is likely the Steatoda nobilis, or 'false widow'. These are regarded as the most venomous spider in the UK, but they are not considered dangerous.

This is ordinarily tempting destiny, but i have my condominium sprayed each six months for ants, cockroaches and spiders and have had best the peculiar daddy-long-legs (which is a spider, not like its English similar) visiting. I did find the body of a huntsman behind the showering computer but it was lengthy deceased! I've noticeable huntsmen in the backyard however I go away them alone there, in any case it is their territory and i am the intruder. We lived in a flat in Sydney for three years and the only funnelweb we ever saw there was once a stuffed one within the Australian Museum. (it can be nonetheless there!) My daughter was once in reality bitten through a redback just lately external (dangerous good fortune, she put her hand into a bush and it jumped onto her and bit her) and we bandaged her up and took her to sanatorium. They saved us there for three hours in case of a reaction but nothing - the doctors mentioned that spiders can bite without injecting venom and that ought to be what occurred. Nevertheless, even supposing a venomous spider or snake does chew you, when you follow the proper method and get to the nearest medical institution or call support straightaway, you'll 99% undoubtedly be ok. Do not let your fears put you off residing in Australia, if you have the hazard to do it. I moved right here (this time around) from UK simply over a 12 months ago and it is the most distinct nation, with terrific, open, friendly individuals and a first-rate lifestyle. As for the flora and fauna, deal with it with admire, seek advice from locals if you want, however in particular use your commonsense and also you is not going to have a drawback. As for goliath bird consuming spiders, they live in South the usa and are innocent except you are a small animal, so ignore that one.

There is, apparently, a new type of spider being spotted in the UK that's reported to be poisonous. Not saying that 'your' one is as without a picture to look at there's no way of knowing. Either kill it or catch it in something and get rid of it. Might be worth looking for info on this 'new' spider to see if it matches the one you have found.
