Why is Suzanne Collins Net worth so low compared to other famous writers?

These figures are estimates at best and wild-assed guesses at worst. If the two writers have sold roughly equal numbers of books, and the figures for their fortunes are anywhere near accurate, I'd say the difference is mainly from movie sales - Meyer has had six movies made based on her books, some of which have had several years to earn money from DVD sales and TV showings, whereas Collins has had only one so far, which came out last year.

Mind you, you wouldn't hear me complaining if I was worth 12 million bucks...

Like Steven said, Meyer has sold 5 novels and six movies and they have been out for quite a few years now so her fortune has had time to accumulate. Whereas Collins has sold one movie and three books.What's more, it's just not true that they'v sold around the same number of copies. The Twilight series had sold 116 millions copies by 2008 and you also need to factor in the Bree Tanner novella, the official guide and all sorts of other additional material. The Hunger Games series had sold 50 million copies by 2012.

There aren't many famous writers to begin with ;D

Suzanne Collins is doing well, far beyond what any regular writer makes.

Have you read the first book, the Hunger Games? If so, you should, so that you finish the series, otherwise nothing really makes sense. I'm halfway through reading it now. it's not as intriguing as the first two- i t takes a bit longer to get your head round things, but so far it's very good. Buy it, and that way, if you enjoy it , Great! You have the book and can read it another time. If you don't like it, then you can pass your reviews onto other people, and if you really hate it, you could give it to the library or charity shop, or sell it! :D xx

Consider also the Twilight merchandising. There for awhile, ever other teen girl I saw was wearing a Team Edward or Team Jacob or even Team Tyler's Van shirt. Meyer made money off all of those. Hunger Games merchandising has yet to reach that fever pitch.

They both have a long way to go to touch Rowling.
