Got My Ears Pierced And Swelling?

i got my ears pierced 4 days ago and the swelling and pain went away after the first day, when i got my piercing done i got somesort of ear care antiseptic to spray my ears with atleast twice a day which i havent really been doing i think i missed 2 days but im doing now, anways last night i washed hair and with the towel i somehow yanked on my ear stud and it was abit painfull, and i went to sleep when i woke up i realised i slept on it and thats when the swelling started all day the pain has been killing me and its night now and it still hurts like crazy. ie loosened the stud as much as i can but its still pushing against the skin causing the pain. and when i used the antiseptic it stings which it never did before and im worried it might be infected. its barely red and so far no puss but im worried what do i do?

First thing - throw out that antiseptic solution that is stinging you. It's too strong and can delay healing and add to your problems, rather than make them go away. The following link has reliable piercing aftercare instructions: http://community.tribalectic.com/articles/body-pie... You may also find that an analgesic with anti-inflammatory properties (like paracetamol) will give you a bit of relief from the pain so you can get to sleep.

I think the swelling is the result of your ears having had a few more knocks, bangs and tugs than was a good idea. It's also possible that you are allergic to the metal in the studs. From the sound of it, you had a gun piercing and the studs are often not long enough to allow for swelling, particularly if you have thicker lobes.

If you don't get an improvement soon, I would advise you to go to a proper piercing studio. They'll have a better idea as to what has gone wrong and can help you to fix it, and change your studs for more appropriate retainer jewellery. (Yes, it will cost you money.)
